Pedestrian Killed in South Los Angeles Hit-and-Run
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (June 7, 2022) — Petra Benitez Vilchis, 57, died in a hit-and-run pedestrian accident Sunday night at Normandie Avenue and 59th Street in South Los Angeles.
Also, the collision occurred about 9:08 p.m. on Sunday, May 22nd, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The deadly, hit-and-run crash occurred as the woman crossed a street in the Vermont-Slauson area of South Los Angeles.
Pedestrian Accident on Normandie Avenue
At the time of the pedestrian accident, Petra Benitez Vilchis was reportedly crossing Normandie Avenue within a marked crosswalk. An oncoming northbound vehicle reportedly hit her in the roadway and she went down. However, the motorist continued northbound without stopping.
Finally, Petra Benitez Vilchis died at the scene due to severe injuries, police said.
Los Angeles police did not release a description of the vehicle involved.
Also, the Los Angeles Police Department’s South Traffic Division is heading up the investigation.
