1 Killed, 1 Critically Injured in Phelan Crash Highway 138 Near Lone Pine
PHELAN, CA (November 25, 2022) – A crash killed one person and critically injured on Highway 138 near Lone Pine Canyon Road in Phelan.
According to an article published by the Victor Valley News, the tragic accident took place on Friday morning. Officers reported the wreck at about 11:06 a.m. near the Mormon Rocks.
The incident happened when a gold 2000 Nissan Altima and a white Toyota Sequoia collided for an unknown reason in Phelan.
The cars crashed on Highway 138 between Cajon Boulevard and Lone Pine Canyon Road. The Nissan obtained major damage while the Toyota ended up with major front-end damage upon impact.
2 Cars Collide
The California Highway Patrol said several children were riding the Sequoia and at least one child was in the Altima. Firefighters arrived and soon pronounced an occupant of the sedan dead at the scene.
A juvenile from the SUV sustained critical injuries as a result of the collision. A helicopter flew the patient to a hospital for treatment.
A ground ambulance rushed the driver of the Toyota as a precaution. The names of the deceased and wounded parties have not been yet released.
Meanwhile, CHP forced a stretch of Highway 138 to shut down for a time near Lone Pine following the wreck. The cause of the fatal Phelan crash is still under investigation.
