At Least 1 Hurt in Traffic Collision on Barstow Freeway
Phelan, CA (July 14, 2021) – As suspected hit-and-run car crash occurred on Interstate 15, also known as Barstow Freeway, Wednesday afternoon.
The California Highway Patrol group reported a semi truck rear-ended another vehicle in the northbound side of Barstow (15) Freeway. Initial records indicated the collision took place near the State Route 138 offramp in Phelan.
Shortly after 1:20 p.m., emergency crews arrived at the location. Responding paramedics checked the conditions of all parties involved in the wreck. After the evaluation, officials confirmed at least one person sustained injuries as a result of the incident. The name of the victim and the extent of their injuries remained undisclosed pending confirmation.

The CHP log later mentioned a motorist involved in the crash fled the scene before police arrived. No immediate information was available on the hit-and-run suspect.
Detectives assigned to handle the case continue to investigate exactly how and why the crash in Phelan happened.
