PHELAN, California (October 10, 2016) — Peter Earl Hyatt, 41, of Victorville, has been identified as the motorcyclist fatally injured in a collision early Monday morning at Sheep Creek Road and Cactus Road, the California Highway Patrol reports.
Authorities were dispatched to the scene of the collision which took place at roughly 5:30 a.m. between a motorcyclist a pickup truck.
Hyatt who was the rider of a Suzuki had been heading northbound on Sheep Creek Road before colliding with the pickup truck who had been making a left turn.
The 41-year-old Victorville man was ejected from his motorcycle and was pronounced dead upon the arrival of CHP officials.
Police officials are investigating liability at this time.
San Bernardino County Accident Statistics
There were 235 fatalities and 8,177 injury accidents in San Bernardino County in 2013, according to the latest traffic statistics compiled by the CHP’s Statewide Integrated Traffic Report. There were 32 motorcycle deaths and 525 who were injured. The unincorporated community of Phelan had 14,304 residents in the last census. It is one of the multiple unincorporated communities in the county that reported 88 deaths and 1,644 injuries in 2013, the report states.
