PHELAN: Roberto Orosco, 29, and Horse Injured in Hit-and-Run on Wilson Ranch Road
Orosco Riding Horse Struck by Pickup Truck
PHELAN, California (July 18, 2016) – A 29-year-old man identified as Roberto Orosco and his horse were injured in a hit-and-run collision on Wilson Ranch Road Sunday night, according to Victor Valley News.
The accident was reported at approximately 10:15 p.m. between Wilson Road and La Mesa Road.
As per the article, California Highway Patrol said Orosco and his friend were riding horses north on Wilson Ranch Road when a GMC truck headed south veered towards the riders.
The truck then hit Orosco and his horse, causing him to be ejected and his horse to be thrown over the truck and into the bed of the pickup. The horse subsequently fell out of the bed about 500 feet down the road.
CHP affirmed that Orosco was taken to Desert Valley Hospital with a broken leg and back injuries while his horse sustained a leg injury. Both are reportedly recovering.
Meanwhile, the driver did not stop and sped on Wilson Ranch, turning right on Duncan Road.
The suspect vehicle was described as a 90’s model GMC Sonoma with front-end damage on the left side, and possible damage to the hood and a busted out window.
Authorities are gathering more information and evidence to locate the hit-and-run motorist.
