Philip Chon Killed in Studio City Hit-and-Run Crash; Suspect Sought

Driver in Blue Honda Odyssey Sought; $50K Reward Offered
STUDIO CITY, Calif. (Oct. 9, 2026) – Philip Chon, 36, was the motorcycle rider who died in a tragic hit-and-run crash on Sept. 22nd at Ventura Boulevard and Carpenter Avenue.
The victim was struck by a driver in a 2004 Honda Odyssey minivan who fled the scene, traveling south on Carpenter Avenue and abandoning the van.
Now the Los Angeles Police Department is offering a reward up to $50,000 for leads that help them locate the suspect who fled the scene of the crash. The deadly crash occurred at 7 a.m. on Sept. 22rd, 2026.
The crash occurred when the eastbound motorcyclist traveling on Ventura Boulevard collided with the suspect’s minivan as it attempted a left-hand turn onto Carpenter Avenue. The motorcycle rider was thrown off the bike into the roadway and suffered major injuries. He was taken to a hospital, where he later died.
