PICO RIVERA (March 24, 2017)- A woman was fatally struck following a hit-and-run collision as she rode her bike at the intersection of Rex Road and Rosemead Boulevard Friday morning, per KTLA News.
Los Angeles County Sheriff personnel were notified of the incident which took place at 2:07 a.m.
Limited details have been provided at this time but authorities believe the unidentified woman had been riding her bike on the sidewalk before being struck by the unknown assailant.
Paramedics responded promptly and rushed the victim to a trauma center where she sadly did not survive and was pronounced dead a short while later.
The driver of the vehicle failed to remain at the scene and took fleeing away from the scene.
KTLA reported that the suspect car, a blue-grey Honda Accord, was pulled over for several code violations in Whittier. Its driver, 21-year-old Pico Rivera resident Berta Ramirez, was detained after her Honda matched the description of the hit-and-run suspect vehicle.
Ramirez is being held on $50,000 bail.
