Pedestrian Killed by Car in Long Beach
LONG BEACH, Calif. (June 1, 2021) – Pierrette Denise Gill, 52, died in a Long Beach pedestrian accident last Wednesday at Artesia Boulevard and Orange Avenue.
A driver struck the 52-year-old woman about 9:15 p.m. on May 26th, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
Pierrette Denise Gill suffered major injuries in the collision. Paramedics transported her to a hospital where she later died, police said.
The pedestrian was crossing northbound on Artesia Boulevard. She was near a crosswalk when she got struck by the vehicle. The collision happened on the west side of the intersection.
Police mentioned she “was crossing against a red signal” and the ‘Don’t Walk’ sign, according to a report by MyNewsLA.
BMW Hits Woman Crossing Artesia Boulevard
A 29-year-old driver in a 1997 BMW 528i was headed westbound on Artesia Boulevard. The Long Beach man stopped after hitting the woman and cooperated with authorities, police said. The victim was later identified by the Los Angeles County Sheriff Coroner as Pierrette Denise Gill.
Additionally, police did not arrest or cite the driver following the collision.
Investigators continue to work on the case and will determine liability.
