Pittsburg police officials disclosed that the woman identified as Ma Garcia, 50, of Pittsburg, had been crossing the street near Galway Drive upon being hit by a truck headed eastbound. Garcia was dragged for a short period of time before being untangled.
Upon the arrival of paramedics, Garcia was discovered unconscious but still showing signs of life. She was rushed to a nearby trauma center, where she sadly died of her injuries.
The Pittsburg Police Department confirmed the driver of the truck did indeed stop and did not appear to have been under the influence.
Liability remains unclear as the investigation is pending.
