5 Injured in Placer County Crash on Interstate 80 Near Drum Forebay

PLACER COUNTY, CA (February 24, 2023) – Several were injured after a crash on the Interstate 80 near Drum Forebay Road in Placer County.

According to an article published by the CBS Sacramento, the accident took place on Friday afternoon. Officers reported the wreck on February 24 shortly after 2:30 p.m.

The incident happened when 18 vehicles, including a Cal Fire pickup truck, collided for an unknown reason in Placer County. The cars crashed on the westbound Interstate 80 at Drum Forebay Road.

Multiple Vehicles Collide

Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene and found a total of five people hurt. Cal Fire said the patients sustained minor injuries as a result of the collision.

Medical personnel then provided treatment to the victims at the site. The report did not disclose the names of the wounded parties and their condition at this time.

Meanwhile, officers forced the westbound lanes of the Interstate 80 to shut down near Drum Forebay following the wreck. The cause of the Placer County crash is still under investigation.
