5 Critical After Car Accident on Yankee Jim Road Sunday
PLACER COUNTY, Ca (September 16, 2019) – Several people suffered serious injuries following a suspected DUI car crash on Yankee Jim Road, according to CBS News.
The accident was reported Sunday at 10:05 p.m.
Initial reports indicated an SUV likely blew a tire while traveling on Yankee Jim Road near Colfax. The vehicle then went off of an embankment and crashed an estimated 200 feet below.
Officials determined five people, including the driver, occupied the SUV at the time of the collision. When emergency teams arrived at the location, they found all five people thrown from the vehicle.
Per local news source, emergency personnel successfully rescued all five victims. One of the injured parties was briefly described as a 16-year-old girl. The teenager reportedly sustained a broken lower spine, and pelvic bone, and crushed her hip bone.
Meanwhile, additional details on the other patients have not been revealed thus far.
DUI Driver Arrested After Major Car Crash in Placer County, September 15
Officials mentioned the 20-year-old driver of the SUV was arrested on DUI charges following the rescue mission.
Further investigation on the case is ongoing.
