1 Killed, 2 Injured in Placer County Crash on State Route 89 Near Goose Meadows
PLACER COUNTY, CA (August 26, 2022) – A crash killed one person and injured two others on State Route 89 near the Goose Meadows in Placer County.
According to an article published by the KRON 4 News, the tragic accident took place on Friday afternoon. Officers reported the wreck at around 1:20 p.m.
The incident began when a white International box truck was going north on State Route 89 in Placer County. At the same time, three cars were traveling south.
For an unknown reason, the box truck crossed the solid double yellow lines and entered the southbound lane. In the process, its driver sideswiped a black Ford Eco and a black Subaru Outback.
Box Truck Hits Several Cars
The California Highway Patrol said the box truck then slammed head-on into a white Subaru Impreza. The vehicles crashed north of the Goose Meadows.
The driver of the Impreza, a 37-year-old Olympic Valley resident, died as a result of the collision. Two other people survived the incident with minor injuries.
Paramedics rushed the patients, the 42-year-old Truckee resident driving the outback and a passenger of the box truck, to the Tahoe Forest Hospital for treatment.
The names of the deceased and wounded parties have not been yet released. Meanwhile, CHP forced the southbound lanes of State Route 89 to shut down for hours following the wreck.
The cause of the fatal Placer County crash is still under investigation. Anyone with information can call the CHP Truckee at (530)563-9200.
