Passenger Killed in Collision Near Mt. Aukum Road
Placerville, CA (April 12, 2022) – A 17-year-old Somerset girl died following a suspected DUI car crash that occurred on Omo Ranch Road Monday.
According to Mountain Democrat News, the teenager was a passenger in a 1999 Mercury Grand Marquis traveling in the streets of Placerville Monday evening. The article published online mentioned the driver lost control and veered off the roadway. Earlier reports indicated the accident took place on Omo Ranch Road, just east of Mt. Aukum Road.
Our sources indicated the collision left the Mercury Grand Marquis plunged down the pond.
Shortly after 5 p.m., emergency crews arrived at the site. First responders found passersby pulling out a passenger from the wreckage. Paramedics extricated the victim, then rushed her to UC Davis Medical Center. The passenger later sadly succumbed to her injuries and died. Authorities briefly identified the deceased as a 17-year-old female resident of Somerset.
DUI Suspect Arrested After Deadly Car Accident on Omo Ranch Road in Placerville
Detectives discovered the driver of the Mercury Grand Marquis was intoxicated when the accident happened. For this reason, police arrested the teenager driver on suspicion of driving under the influence.
