Police did not release the identity of the adult Hispanic male driver at this time. However, detectives did mention the vehicle was located at Swift and West avenues in central Fresno.
The Fresno County Coroner identified the boy who died in the 11:30 p.m. crash as he walked across Friant and Fort Washington roads.
His family told authorities they pressed the walk button to activate the crosswalk. The child and the aunt lagged behind the other pedestrians. Investigators seek to find out if the traffic light changed to green for the driver, but regardless, the driver faces criminal charges for fleeing the scene.
