Pedestrian Injured in Oakland Accident on 580 Freeway Near Lake Merritt
OAKLAND (November 8, 2017) – A pedestrian was injured after being hit by a police-chased vehicle near the Interstate 580 Freeway and Lake Merritt Tuesday afternoon, according to ABC 7.
As per the article, officers tried to hail a silver wagon on the interstate at about 4:15 p.m. but the motorist refused to stop. A police chase then ensued in East Oakland after the driver who was being pulled-over continued driving away.
The chase reportedly ended near Lakeshore Avenue.
Shortly after the pursuit ended, reports indicated that a bystander may have been hit by the police-chased vehicle. An ambulance was dispatched to the accident scene to rescue and transport the victim to a hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries.
As of Wednesday, investigators are still looking into the accident. No charges have been yet made in regards to the collision.
