Officer Rodolfo Tabares Injured in Crash at Highway 33 and Douglas Street
FIREBAUGH (September 16, 2019) – A police motorcycle officer was hospitalized after an alleged DUI crash at Highway 33 and Douglas Street Sunday night.
The victim, Firebaugh Police Officer Rodolfo Tabares, was involved in the accident on September 15 at around 8:30 p.m.
Officer Tabares was riding a police motorcycle when he was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Highway 33 and Douglas Street. The car was traveling at a high rate of speed when it hit the officer.

Reports by The Fresno Bee and ABC 30 News indicated that the police officer was then thrown from his bike as a result of the collision.
Fire department personnel along with the paramedics responded to the scene and found the victim conscious but suffering from road rash and scrapes following the wreck.
He was immediately transported to the hospital to be treated for apparent injuries to both his forearms and lower extremities. His condition was not disclosed.
Meanwhile, authorities determined that the driver who hit the officer was under the influence of alcohol or drugs when the incident occurred. The suspect was arrested on suspicion of DUI.
