
2 Killed, 2 Injured in Porter Ranch Wrong-Way Crash on 118 Freeway
LOS ANGELES, CA (March 5, 2023) – A DUI wrong-way crash killed two people and injured two others on the 118 Freeway in Porter Ranch.
According to the KTLA News and ABC 7 News, the tragic accident took place on Sunday morning. Officers reported the wreck on March 5 at around 4:30 a.m.
The incident began when a black sedan was traveling east in the westbound lanes of the 118 Freeway in the Porter Ranch area of Los Angeles. At the same time, a large yellow box truck was going west.
The California Highway Patrol said the car then slammed head-on into the box truck at the Tampa Avenue off-ramp. The box truck rolled into an embankment next to the off-ramp upon impact.
DUI Driver Hits Box Truck
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived and pronounced the two passengers of the sedan dead at the scene. The wrong-way motorist sustained severe injuries as a result of the collision.
The driver of the truck survived the incident with minor to moderate injuries. Medical personnel rushed the two patients to hospitals for treatment.
The names of the deceased and wounded parties have not been yet released. Meanwhile, CHP believed that the suspect was under the influence when they hit the other vehicle.
Officers forced the westbound lanes of the 118 Freeway to shut down near Tampa for several two hours following the wreck. The cause of the fatal Porter Ranch wrong-way crash is still under investigation.
