1 Seriously Injured in Porter Ranch Hit-and-Run Crash on 118 Freeway Near Tampa
LOS ANGELES, CA (February 6, 2022) – One was seriously injured after a hit-and-run crash on the 118 Freeway near Tampa Avenue in Porter Ranch.
The California Highway Patrol first logged the accident on Sunday evening. According to their dispatch, officers reported the wreck at about 7:36 p.m.
The incident began when a tow truck was assisting a car on the right shoulder of the westbound 118 Freeway, just east of Tampa Avenue, in Porter Ranch.
Tow Truck Driver Hit by Vehicle
CHP said another vehicle approached and sideswiped the tow truck driver and the motorist he was helping at the time. Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene.
Medical personnel found the tow truck driver who sustained major injuries as a result of the collision. They rushed him to the Northridge Hospital Medical Center for treatment of a broken leg.
The report did not disclose the name of the wounded patient and his condition at this time. Meanwhile, CHP affirmed that the driver who sideswiped the victims did not stop to help and fled the area.
Officers forced the westbound lanes of the 118 Freeway to shut down following the incident. The cause of the Porter Ranch hit-and-run crash is still under investigation.
