4 Injured in Porterville Crash at Highway 65 and Avenue 56
PORTERVILLE, CA (December 8, 2022) – Several were injured after a car crash at Highway 65 and Avenue 56 in Porterville.
According to an article published by Your Central Valley, the accident took place on Wednesday afternoon. Officers reported the wreck on December 7 at around 1:22 p.m.
The incident happened when a 2011 Dodge Nitro was going south on Highway 65, toward a red light at the intersection with Avenue 56, in Porterville.
At the same time, a 2018 Toyota Camry was going east on Avenue 56 approaching a green light at Highway 65. Due to inattention, the driver of the Dodge failed to stop at the red light.
The California Highway Patrol said the Nitro then entered the intersection directly into the path of the Toyota. In the process, the Dodge slammed into the driver’s side of the Toyota.
2 Cars Collide
The 39-year-old Earlimart resident driving the Camry sustained major injuries as a result of the collision. An air ambulance flew the patient to the Kern Medical Center for treatment.
The passenger in the Toyota survived the incident with moderate injuries. One of the three minor passengers in the Dodge ended up with major injuries.
Paramedics rushed both victims to the Sierra View Medical Center for further aid. Medical personnel treated the motorist in the Nitro, a 46-year-old Porterville resident, who obtained minor injuries.
The report did not disclose the names of the wounded parties and their condition at this time. Meanwhile, CHP forced the area of Highway 65 and Avenue 56 to shut down following the wreck.
The cause of the Porterville crash is still under investigation.
