Woman, 25, Critically Injured in Porterville DUI Crash on Main Street
PORTERVILLE, CA (March 21, 2022) – A woman was critically injured after a DUI crash on North Main Street in Porterville.
According to The Porterville Recorder and FOX 26 News, the accident took place on Saturday night. Officers reported the collision at around 8 p.m.
The DUI incident happened on March 19 when a female pedestrian was walking northbound along the western shoulder of Main Street in Porterville.
At the same time, a vehicle was going south. Police said the driver then veered off the road and struck the 25-year-old woman.
Victim Hit by Vehicle
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene and then found the pedestrian lying on the side of the roadway. She sustained major injuries as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel rushed the victim to the hospital and listed her in critical condition. The reports did not disclose the name of the wounded patient.
Meanwhile, officers believed that the motorist was under the influence of drugs or medication when she hit the person. Police soon arrested her for DUI.
Officers forced a stretch of Main Street to shut down following the Porterville DUI incident. The crash is still under investigation. Anyone with information can call the police at 559-782-7400.
