The incident involving two vehicles occurred about 6:40 p.m. on Highway 166 at Spanish Ranch.
In an article by Noozhawk, CHP reported that a 27-year-old man was going east along a gradual left curve when he allegedly allowed his 2001 Chevrolet pickup truck to partially enter the westbound lane.
The Chevrolet then collided with a 2007 Dodge pickup truck being driven by 62-year-old Richard Dwayne Terrell. The impact caused the Dodge to overturn, coming to a stop on the dirt shoulder.
A passenger in the Dodge, 54-year-old Kimberly Doris Terrell, suffered a broken left knee while Richard Terrell complained of pain. Both are from Bakersfield.
Meanwhile, the 27-year-old driver was extricated from his vehicle and sustained bleeding in the brain, a lacerated liver, and multiple broken bones. All three were taken to Marian Regional Medical Center in Santa Maria for treatment.
The cause of the incident is still under investigation.
