Poway Fatal DUI Motorcycle Crash on Midland Road

Motorcyclist, 59, Killed in Poway Crash on Midland Road

POWAY, CA (March 26, 2022) – A DUI crash killed a motorcyclist on Midland Road in the city of Poway.

According to the San Diego Union-Tribune and ABC 10 News, the tragic accident took place late Friday night. Officers reported the wreck at about 10:34 p.m.

The incident happened on March 25 when the motorcycle rider was parked along the right side of Midland Road in Poway. At the same time, a sedan was going north.

Deputies said the car then slammed into the rear of the motorcyclist in the 13800 block of the road. The two collided just north of the intersection with Somerset Road.

Rider Hit by DUI Driver

Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived and found the 59-year-old man lying on the ground. He sustained serious injuries as a result of the collision.

Medical personnel pronounced the victim dead at the scene. His name has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin.

Meanwhile, officers determined that the driver of the sedan was under the influence when he hit the rider. They soon arrested him for DUI.

Deputies forced a stretch of Midland Road to shut down for a time following the wreck. The fatal Poway crash is still under investigation.
