4 Injured in Prunedale Crash on Highway 101 Near Reese Circle
PRUNEDALE, CA (July 11, 2021) – Several were injured after a DUI crash on Highway 101 in Prunedale.
According to an article published by the KSBW News, the accident took place on Sunday morning. Officers reported the wreck at around 11:35 a.m.
The California Highway Patrol said a vehicle slammed into the rear of an SUV in Prunedale. They crashed on the northbound side of Highway 101, just south of Reese Circle.
Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene. They found the four occupants of the SUV, including a 5-year-old child, hurt as a result of the collision.
DUI Factor in Car Collision
Medical personnel rushed the juvenile to a bay area hospital as a precaution. They also took the other three victims to the Natividad Medical Center for treatment of unspecified injuries.
Officials did not release the names of the wounded patients and their condition at this time. Meanwhile, the 23-year-old Salinas man who rear-ended the SUV was transported to Natividad with major injuries.
CHP believed that he was under the influence at the time of the wreck. They soon placed him under arrest for suspicion of DUI.
Officers forced Highway 101 to shut down for more than one hour following the collision. The Prunedale DUI crash is still under investigation.
