PRUNEDALE: Major Injury Crash Castroville Boulevard, Manzanita Circle

UPDATE: Man, 54, Killed; Woman Injured in Solo-Vehicle Crash in Prunedale
PRUNEDALE, Calif. (Sept. 17, 2026) –Two people suffered major injuries Thursday afternoon in a solo-vehicle crash in Prunedale at Castroville Boulevard, just west of Manzanita Circle.
The traffic accident occurred in around 12:45 p.m. on Sept. 17th, according to the California Highway Patrol. CHP officials were told a grey Toyota pickup truck traveling at 50 mph went off the roadway, down an embankment, and crashed head-on into a tree. The vehicle was found facing downward on an incline.
The man and woman, both from Salinas, were found by arriving emergency crews trapped in the pickup truck with major injuries. They were transported to a hospital for further treatment, but the man later died from his injuries at the hospital. Meanwhile, a tow truck was sent to remove the vehicle and debris, while PG&E was on scene to check on a power pole that was hit.
Investigators are working to determine the cause of the crash.
