Multi-Vehicle Crash in Prunedale
PRUNEDALE, Calif. (August 12, 2024) — A multi-vehicle car crash occurred Monday morning in Prunedale California in Monterey County on the US 101 Highway.
The traffic accident occurred at around 11:01 AM on August 12th, 2024, near San Juan Road and just south of the 101 Red Barn Flea Market, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A grey Volkswagen Jetta, a grey Honda sedan, a white work truck, and a green semi truck were all involved in the multi-vehicle car collision on the US 101 Highway. The green semi-truck allegedly set off the collision when it crashed into a street sign and a guardrail.
The work truck was carrying pallets and the impact of the collision caused them all to fall into the center divide of the highway. This caused another smaller collision. The semi-truck was carrying blackberries and they also were all over the highway, acting as another traffic hazard. The driver of the semi truck was trapped in between the center divide and the truck and was reported to not be able to get out of the truck.
Paramedics responded and located those with injuries and transported them to a nearby hospital for treatment of unknown injuries at this time.
Investigators are working to determine who is at fault for the crash in Prunedale on the US 101 Highway in Monterey County.
