Woman Killed, 2 Men Injured in Car Crash on 405 Freeway at Moraga Drive
LOS ANGELES (February 11, 2018) – Qingwen Zhu, 29, of Laguna Hills has been identified as the woman killed in a collision on the Interstate 405 Freeway in Westwood early Sunday morning, according to ABC 7 News.
The accident took place shortly after 12:30 a.m. when Zhu’s Mini Cooper stalled or stopped near Moraga Drive. The vehicle’s lights were on when it was rear-ended by an oncoming Nissan Sentra at 65 mph.
The Los Angeles Fire Department responded and transported Zhu to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center where she later died.
The two drivers of the vehicles, a 26-year-old Simi Valley man and a 47-year-old Ventura man were both hospitalized. The younger motorist was driving the Mini Cooper at the time, while the older was the sole occupant of the Sentra.
We offer our sincerest thoughts and prayers to all the parties involved and their friends and families during such a difficult time.
Wrongful Death Accident Investigation
An investigation into this collision is underway to determine fault. Police will look into why the Mini Cooper was stopped at the time of the crash and whether the collision could have been avoided by the driver in the Nissan.
If a negligent driver or dangerous condition caused a collision that left you injured or took the life of your loved one, you may have grounds for a personal injury or wrongful death claim.
It’s important to note, however, that it’s quite common for insurance companies to try and avoid paying out a claim even when they know their insured is responsible. They may also make an offer to settle for far less than the full amount owed. This is unacceptable.
