1 Dead, 1 Hurt Garden Grove 22 Freeway
GARDEN GROVE (January 6, 2019) – Quyen Luu, 55, of Baldwin Park, died and one person was injured following an alleged DUI crash on the 22 Freeway early Sunday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol and the Orange County Coroner.
The accident was reported about 1:00 a.m., just west of Magnolia Street between two drivers.
The California Highway Patrol reported two vehicles collided on the westbound 22 Freeway, leaving one person trapped in a vehicle. Firefighters and paramedics responded to help the victims including Luu who was rushed to UCI Medical Center in Orange in critical condition. Luu was a passenger in one of the two vehicles.
The second person was also taken to a hospital in unknown condition.
One of the drivers was not hurt and was given field sobriety tests before being placed under arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
The collision remains under investigation.

The initial investigation into this collision has determined that one driver was under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time of the collision.
