Drunk Driver Hits Rachael Dayton, 25, on SR-273
Redding, CA (September 13, 2020) – A 25-year-old pedestrian suffered injuries in a DUI crash on State Route 273 early Saturday.
According to an article published by KRCR News, Rachael Dayton was walking with a male companion while crossing SR-273 near Canyon Road.
A passing Honda Civic driven by 39-year-old Sarah Carpenter, of Redding, reportedly failed to avoid and hit Dayton. The driver said she did not notice the pedestrians, leading to the collision.
Our sources confirmed Dayton suffered major injuries as a result of the crash. Paramedics transported the patient by ambulance to Mercy Medical Center.
Meanwhile, no immediate information was available on the companion of Dayton.
Sarah Carpenter, 39, Arrested After Pedestrian Accident in Redding
The Redding Police Department said Dayton was determined to be at fault for the collision for crossing the roadway outside of a crosswalk. Furthermore, officers also determined Carpenter was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the collision.
Police then arrested Carpenter and booked her into the Shasta County Jail for felony DUI causing injury.
