Raenaldo Abundiz, 41, Killed in Morgan Hill Hit-and-Run Near Monterey and Middle
MORGAN HILL, CA (December 12, 2020) – A hit-and-run crash near Monterey Road and Middle Avenue killed Raenaldo Abundiz in Morgan Hill.
The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office said the 41-year-old man died following the accident on Thursday, December 10.
The incident happened when Raenaldo Abundiz was attempting to cross Monterey Road, north of East Middle Avenue. For an unknown reason, a red compact car struck him near the 76 gas station.
Police said he then fell to the ground as a result of the collision. According to reports by East Bay Times, a light-colored pickup truck came and also ran over Abundiz.
Pedestrian Hit by Cars Near 76 Gas Station
Paramedics arrived and found the pedestrian left lying on the road following the collision. They soon pronounced him dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, police affirmed that the drivers of both cars did not stop to render aid to the man and fled southbound on Monterey. Officials reported the tragic crash at about 5:35 p.m.
Authorities are still searching for the two hit-and-run motorists. Officers closed Monterey Road between East Middle and Crowner avenues for several hours following the fatal incident.
