Rafael Garcia, 84, Critically Injured in Santa Ana Hit-and-Run on West 3rd Street

SANTA ANA, CA (September 1, 2021) – Rafael Garcia was critically injured after a hit-and-run crash on 3rd Street in Santa Ana.

NBC Los Angeles identified the 84-year old Santa Ana man as the victim of the collision which took place last week on Thursday.

The incident began when Rafael Garcia was standing next to his parked truck in the 1700 block of West 3rd Street in Santa Ana. At the same time, a vehicle was going west.

Police said for an unknown reason, the driver struck the pedestrian. Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene and found him left lying on the ground.

Pedestrian Hit by Car

Rafael Garcia sustained life-threatening injuries, including a brain damage, as a result of the Santa Ana crash. Medical personnel rushed him to a hospital and listed him in critical condition.

The accident occurred on August 26 at about 10:51 a.m. Meanwhile, police affirmed that the motorist did not stop to render aid to the victim and fled the area.

They described the car as possibly a 2006 to 2010 model black Toyota Corolla with oxidized paint on the roof. The Santa Ana hit-and-run crash is still under investigation.
