Rafael Miramontes, 57, Killed in Fresno County Crash on Highway 99
FRESNO COUNTY, CA (July 21, 2022) – Rafael Miramontes was killed after a crash on Highway 99 in Fresno County.
The coroner’s office identified the 57-year-old Selma man as one of the victims in the fatal wreck which took place earlier this month.
The incident happened when Rafael Miramontes was driving a Toyota Prius in a northbound lane of Highway 99 in Fresno County. He was traveling behind a big rig at the time.
For an unknown reason, the semi-truck pulling a trailer moved into his lane. In the process, the car collided with the back of the big rig south of Manning Avenue.

The California Highway Patrol said the Toyota ended up pinned between the trailer and a barricade. Both vehicles then burst into flames due to the impact the collision.
The Fresno Bee and Your Central Valley wrote that the accident occurred on July 7 at about 7:30 a.m. near Fowler and Selma.
Rafael Miramontes died at the scene of the crash. His 10-year-old daughter sustained minor to moderate injuries as a result of the wreck.
Paramedics soon rushed her to a hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, CHP added that the driver of the truck did not sustain any wound following the incident.
The cause of the Fresno County crash is still under investigation.
