Bicyclist Killed in Lancaster Car Accident
LANCASTER, Calif. (Nov. 7, 2018) – Rafael Angel Reyes, 58, was identified as the bicyclist who died Tuesday night when he was hit by a vehicle near West Avenue K and Park Avenue.
The collision was reported about 11:40 p.m. at the Lancaster intersection.
Paramedics rushed to the scene and transported the injured man to a hospital where he later died, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Lancaster Station.
Police say both the bicyclist and the vehicle were both heading eastbound on Avenue K when, for an unknown reason, the vehicle hit the bicycle rider, he said. The driver, Marzette Alexander of Palmdale, stopped and attempted to help the injured man until paramedics arrived.
Police do not suspect alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash.
Police are heading up an investigation into the cause of this crash and will examine the evidence at the scene, take measurements and speak to those involved as well as witnesses. The family of Rafael Angel Reyes may consider filing a wrongful death claim to recover their financial losses.
