Rancho Cucamonga Pedestrian Accident on Loma Drive
RANCHO CUCAMONGA, California (May 5, 2014) — A 3-year-old boy was killed Friday night when he was struck by a driver on Alta Loma Drive and Garnet Street, according to a press release by the San Bernardino County Sheriff Coroner.
According to the report, the driver of a white 2006 Dodge Ram pickup truck hit the child identified as Ryan Cruz Saldana, 3, of South Pasadena, about 6:18 p.m. Paramedics rushed to the scene of the pedestrian accident, but the little boy died of his injuries at the scene about 6:26 p.m., the report said.
According to the Los Angeles Daily News, the boy was playing at a relative’s home when he suddenly ran after a Frisbee that had landed in the street and into the path of the driver. Thousands of people are supporting the family of the little red-headed boy via Twitter at #redballoonsforryan and have donated more than $37,000 to assist the grieving family with funeral costs and loss of income at Gofundme.
The fatal pedestrian accident is under investigation by the San Bernardino County Sheriff Major Accident Investigation Team.
“This is a tragedy for the family and friends of this little boy,” said Attorney James Johnson. “My condolences go out to them as they cope with his sudden loss and try to piece together what happened.”
