Bicyclist Killed in Rancho Cucamonga DUI Crash on Archibald Avenue
RANCHO CUCAMONGA, CA (June 28, 2022) – A DUI crash killed a bicyclist on Archibald Avenue in Rancho Cucamonga.
According to an article published by The Sun, the tragic accident took place on Saturday evening. Officers reported the wreck at about 6:50 p.m.
The incident happened on June 25 when a black Acura TSX was going south on Archibald Avenue, north of the Pacific Electric Trail, in Rancho Cucamonga.
At the same time, the bicycle rider was crossing west on the trail across Archibald. The Sheriff’s Department said the car ran a red light and then struck the victim.
Drunk Driver Hits Rider
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived and found the cyclist down on the ground. The patient sustained major injuries as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel pronounced the rider dead at the scene. The name of the deceased party has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, deputies determined that the driver of the Acura was under the influence of alcohol when she hit the bicyclist. They soon arrested for gross vehicular manslaughter and DUI causing injury.
Officers forced a stretch of Archibald Avenue to shut down for a time following the crash. The fatal Rancho Cucamonga wreck is still under investigation.
