Linda Jean Brechtel, 71, Arrested on DUI Charges
RANCHO MIRAGE, California (August 28, 2017) —Linda Jean Brechtel, 71, of Yucca Valley has been arrested on suspicion of drunken driving after she allegedly hit two bicyclists on Bob Hope Drive at Rancho Las Palmas, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
The collision was reported about 10:06 p.m. on Friday night. Brechtel was driving a silver Toyota Camry and heading north in the No. 2 lane of Bob Hope Drive. She struck the two bicyclists who were also heading northbound.
Paramedics responded to help the two injured bicycle riders and transported one of them to a hospital for evaluation. The second bike rider was released at the scene. There were no life-threatening injuries reported.
Police determined that Brechtel was driving under the influence of alcohol. She was cleared of any injuries and taken into custody and then booked into the Riverside County Jail in Indio on DUI charges.
