Bicyclist Fatally Struck Thursday Morning at Intersection
RANCHO MIRAGE (December 13, 2018) – According to KESQ News, a deadly accident was reported this morning involving a bicyclist at the intersection of Ramon and Rattler roads.
Authorities responded to the collision after being notified following the incident which occurred at 6:49 a.m. precisely.
Sheriff deputies were informed by at least one witness that prior to the collision the driver of Honda Accord who struck the victim had been speeding just before hitting the cyclist.
The victim who has not been identified was thrown into the air before hitting the ground tragically suffering immediate fatal injuries in the process.
Driver Who Struck Victim Arrested
Police officials arrested the driver of the Honda who may have been street racing at the time of the crash.
Following the accident, several lanes of both Ramon and Rattler roads were temporarily shut down while authorities thoroughly perused the scene and interviewed witnesses.
A third driver who may have allegedly been involved pulled into a gas station nearby and waited for police to arrive to be questioned about what took place.
No further details have been made available as the investigation is ongoing.
