Hit-and-run Non-injury Car Accident on Highway 111 and San Jacinto Drive
Scott Charles Hampton, 56, of Palm Desert was arrested Tuesday afternoon on DUI charges following a hit-and-run car accident on Highway 111 and San Jacinto Drive in Rancho Mirage, California, according to a press release by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
About 4:30 p.m., Tuesday, July 1, Hampton was behind the wheel of his white Toyota pickup truck when he allegedly rear-ended the driver of a silver Kia Optima.
There were no injuries reported after the crash, however, Hampton failed to remain at the scene of the crash as required under California law. Instead, Hampton went home and police used evidence to track him down to his Park Place residence in Palm Desert.
The Rancho Mirage Police Department booked Hampton into an Indio jail.
