Driver Killed in Multi-Vehicle Crash in Rancho Mission Viejo
RANCHO MISSION VIEJO, Calif. (Sept. 23, 2025) — A driver was killed Tuesday afternoon in a crash involving a trash truck and at least two other vehicles on Cow Camp Road near Antonio Parkway, authorities said.
The collision was reported on Sept. 23rd shortly after 2:15 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol. Initial reports indicated the driver of the trash truck was trapped after the crash, which blocked lanes in both directions.
CHP officers closed the roadway and issued a SigAlert as emergency crews responded. County road officials were also called in after the impact damaged about 100 feet of cable along a nearby bridge.
The Orange County Coroner’s Office was requested to the scene at 2:35 p.m. and confirmed a fatality. The victim’s identity has not yet been released, pending notification of family.
A heavy-duty tow truck was dispatched to remove the trash vehicle for evidence processing, CHP said.
