Randall Pockrus, 63; and Janica Clyde, 67, Injured in Chico Crash on Highway 99
CHICO, CA (March 31, 2022) – A DUI crash left Randall Pockrus and Janica Clyde injured at Highway 99 and Esplanade in Chico.
The Action News Now wrote that the wreck took place on Wednesday afternoon, March 30. The California Highway Patrol reported the wreck at about 2:30 p.m.
The incident happened when Randall Pockrus, 63, was driving a Ford Taurus south on Highway 99 with Janica Clyde, 67, as his passenger in Chico.
At the same time, a Hyundai Elantra was going north on Esplanade. Officers said the Hyundai then came to a stop at the stop sign in the intersection.
2 Cars Collide
The Elantra did not yield to the right-of-way and pulled out to make a left turn directly in front of the Ford. In the process, the Taurus broadsided the Hyundai.
The Ford spun out of control while the Elantra slammed into a chain-link fence. Randall Pockrus sustained moderate injuries while Janica Clyde survived with minor injuries as a result of the crash.
Paramedics took both patients to a hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, CHP determined that the driver of the Hyundai was under the influence of alcohol when the collision occurred.
Officers soon arrested the suspect for DUI. The Chico crash is still under investigation.
