Raul Silva-Chavez Killed in Desert Hot Springs Crash
DESERT HOT SPRINGS, Calif. (November 4, 2020) – Raul Silva-Chavez, 23, of Cathedral City, died Monday in a crash at Palm Drive and 20th Avenue in Desert Hot Springs.
The traffic accident took place about 12:14 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 2nd, according to an article published by KESQ News,
Police say Raul Silva-Chavez was driving a Nissan 350Z that allegedly drifted into another lane. Next, the vehicle crashed head-on into a pickup truck at the Desert Hot Springs intersection.
Pregnant Woman Involved in Collision
There were three vehicles traveling behind the pickup that also were involved in the crash, according to the California Highway Patrol. One of those cars, a Hyundai Elantra, caught fire after the collision.
Fire department officials along with the paramedics responded to the scene. Raul Silva-Chavez was transported to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs. Unfortunately, he later died more than two hours later at the hospital.
Meanwhile, paramedics also transported a pregnant woman who was riding the Hyundai for unspecified injuries. The pickup truck driver suffered a minor facial laceration.
Finally, the fatal crash remains under investigation.
