Ray Galindo, 58, Killed in Modesto Hit-and-Run Crash on Woodland Avenue
MODESTO, CA (May 4, 2021) – Ray Galindo was killed after a DUI hit-and-run crash on Woodland Avenue in Modesto.
Police identified the 58-year-old man as the victim of the fatal pedestrian accident which occurred late last month on April 22.
The incident happened when Ray Galindo was sitting on the tailgate of his parked pickup truck on Woodland Avenue in Modesto. At the same time, a Ford Ranger was going east on Woodland.
Police said the driver of the Ford, 22-year-old Braxton Howze, swerved out of his lane to the south side of the road. He then struck Ray Galindo and his parked car.

Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene, west of Graphics Drive. They found the victim left lying on the ground as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel rushed him to a local hospital, where he died. The Modesto Bee wrote that the crash took place on Thursday at about 9:16 p.m.
Meanwhile, police affirmed that Braxton Howze abandoned the Ranger and fled on foot. They located him nearby and determined that he was under the influence of alcohol when he hit Galindo.
Officers soon arrested the 22-year-old Modesto man on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated on a $1 million bail.
They also charged him with DUI causing bodily injury, hit-and-run and driving on a suspended license. The Modesto DUI hit-and-run collision is still under investigation.
