Ray Schlaepfer, 58, Killed in Porterville Hit-and-Run Crash on Henderson Avenue
PORTERVILLE, CA (March 12, 2022) – Ray Schlaepfer was killed after a hit-and-run crash on Henderson Avenue in Porterville.
Police identified the 58-year-old man as the victim in the fatal accident which took place on Friday evening.
The incident happened when Ray Schlaepfer was walking in a well-lit area of West Henderson Avenue in Porterville. At the same time, a vehicle was going east.
Police said for an unknown reason, the driver hit him in the 200 block of the road. Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene just east of G Street.
Driver Hits Pedestrian, Flees Scene
They found the pedestrian down on the ground and suffering from serious injuries as a result of the collision. Medical personnel soon rushed the victim to a hospital where he died.
Meanwhile, police affirmed that the motorist did not stop to render aid to the man and fled eastbound on Henderson. The cause of the Porterville hit-and-run crash is still under investigation.
Officers are still searching for the hit-and-run suspect who left Ray Schlaepfer in the roadway. Anyone with information can call the police at (559) 782-7400.
