Raymond Elam, 53, Killed in Tahoe City Golf Cart Crash on Highway 28
TAHOE CITY, CA (July 30, 2022) – Raymond Elam was killed after a golf cart crash on Highway 28 in Tahoe City.
The California Highway Patrol identified the 53-year-old Kings Beach man as the victim of the fatal wreck on Tuesday.
The Union and The Sacramento Bee wrote that the accident took place on July 26 shortly after 6:20 a.m., just west of Grove Street.
The incident happened when Raymond Elam was driving a white utility bed golf cart west on Highway 28 in Tahoe City. At the same time, a 2018 Honda HRV was traveling behind.
Car Hits Employee
CHP said the Honda then approached the golf cart. Its driver, 33-year-old Brandon Norling, did not see the small vehicle in front of him for an unknown reason.
In the process, the Tahoe City resident in the car failed to stop in time and struck the rear of the golf cart. Raymond Elam ended up ejected from the cart as a result of the crash.
The victim died at the scene of the incident. The golf cart belonged to the Tahoe City Downtown Association and the operator was their employee.
