
Man, 84, Killed in Crash on I-5 is Identified
FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (August 2, 2024) – Raymond Serpa, 84, of Sacramento, died Monday night in a car accident on the Interstate 5 Freeway near Nees Avenue in Fresno County.
According to the California Highway Patrol the two-vehicle traffic accident occurred at around 8:30 p.m. on July 29th, 2024.
The 84-year-old man was reportedly driving southbound on the Interstate 5 in his 2005 Ford in the number two lane near Nees Avenue, according to YourCentralValleyNews.
Police say the motorist was traveling at a slow rate of speed when a 32-year-old man in a 2012 Chevrolet traveling at 70 to 75 mph approached him in the next lane.
The elderly man driving the Ford allegedly made a sharp left turn into the path of the oncoming Chevrolet and the two vehicles collided. Upon impact, the Ford caught on fire and became fully engulfed in flames, the report said.
Unfortunately, the 84-year-old man in the Ford suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.
Investigators will determine fault for the fatal crash on the 5 Freeway in Fresno County.
