Raymond Triola, 60, Killed in San Rafael Pedestrian Crash on Highway 101
SAN RAFAEL, CA (March 16, 2022) – A pedestrian crash killed Raymond Triola on Highway 101 in San Rafael.
The coroner’s office identified the 60-year-old San Rafael as the victim of the fatal collision which took place on Wednesday.
The incident happened when Raymond Dominick Triola was in the far left lane of southbound Highway 101 in San Rafael. The area is just north of Manuel T. Freitas Parkway.
Man Hit by Van
For an unknown reason, an approaching 2020 Ford transit van failed to swerve or stop in time due to a curve in the road. The California Highway Patrol said in the process, the vehicle struck the victim.
Raymond Triola sustained serious injuries as a result of the pedestrian accident. Paramedic arrived and then pronounced him dead at the scene.
The Marin Independent Journal wrote that the collision occurred at about 3:43 a.m. Meanwhile, CHP affirmed that the driver of the van stopped and stayed at the site after hitting the man.
Officers forced three left lanes of southbound Highway 101 to shut down for several hours following the incident. The cause of the San Rafael pedestrian crash is still under investigation.
