Raymundo Navarro, 68, Victim in DUI Crash
DATE OF COLLISION: Monday, October 1st
October 2, 2018- According to KION 546, a deadly wrong-way DUI crash led to a man’s arrest, a man’s death, and injuries to several motorists last night on Highway 101.
According to California Highway Patrol officials, the crash transpired right around 7:30 p.m. in the southbound lanes of the highway near Spence Road.
Authorities have determined that Luciano Medina, 44, of Salinas, had been driving in the opposite lanes of traffic headed northbound in southbound lanes before slamming head-on into a Nissan Frontier driven by Raymundo Navarro, 68, of Gonzales.
Both a Honda Odyssey and a BMW were also involved and struck.
Per KION 546, the driver of the Nissa, Navarro, tragically did not survive the impact of the wreck leaving him with fatal injuries as he was pronounced at the scene.

Meanwhile, both the drivers of the Honda and BMW were also hurt. It was unclear to what extent and whether or not they were hospitalized.
CHP confirmed that the wrong-way driver, Luciano Medina, was under the influence at the time of the crash. While he was injured and transported to a hospital, he will be arrested and face serious charges.
Although California Highway Patrol officials have most of the facts for this incident, the collision is still being investigated.
