A Motorcycle and Car Crashed at Chester Avenue and Bancroft Drive

 Rebecca Carberry, Thomas Porter Jr., Killed Crash Chester Ave, Bancroft DriveKERN COUNTY, Calif. (Oct. 6, 2022) — Rebecca Hurst Carberry, 55, and Thomas David Porter Jr., 50, both of Bakersfield, died in a motorcycle crash at North Chester Avenue and Bancroft Drive in Oildale.

The two-vehicle crash occurred about 11:09 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 4th, according to the California Highway Patrol.

CHP officials reported the man and woman were riding together on a 2005 Suzuki motorcycle on North Chester Avenue.  The pair were traveling north when for unknown reasons they collided with the left front door of a 2021 Subaru. The car had been traveling in the same direction as the motorcycle.

The motorcyclist and his passenger went down in the roadway and suffered major injuries. Both of them died at the crash scene and were later identified by the Kern County Sheriff Coroner.

Meanwhile, two tow trucks came to remove the damaged vehicles.

Investigators are working on the case to determine fault. Witnesses to the crash can contact the Bakersfield CHP office at 661-396-6600.
