Rebecca Schmidt, 56, Severely Injured in Yuba County Crash on Scott Forbes Road
YUBA COUNTY, CA (June 2, 2021) – Rebecca Schmidt was severely injured after a DUI crash on Scott Forbes Road in Yuba County.
The California Highway Patrol identified the 56-year-old Browns Valley woman as the victim of the accident which occurred on Sunday.
The incident happened when Rebecca Schmidt was riding a bicycle east on Scott Forbes Road in Yuba County foothills. At the same time, a Subaru Forester was traveling the same direction.
Bicyclist Hit by DUI Driver
CHP said the Subaru then struck the bicyclist. The Appeal Democrat and KUBA Radio News wrote that the collision took place on May 30 at around noon.
Rebecca Schmidt sustained a severe lower leg injury as a result of the Yuba County crash. The male motorist in the Forester drove her to her home where they called for help.
An air ambulance arrived and took the cyclist to the Sutter Roseville Hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, the driver involved ended up with a small laceration to his lip due to the impact of the collision.
CHP determined that the man was under the influence when he hit the bicycle rider. Authorities soon arrested him for DUI. The Scott Forbes Road DUI crash is still under investigation.
