Reckless Driver Doing Donuts on 210 Freeway in Sylmar Sets Off Crash
SYLMAR, Calif., April 28, 2025 — A driver performing reckless stunts on the Foothill (210) Freeway in Sylmar caused a crash early Monday morning involving an SUV and a big rig, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
Driver Spotted Doing Donuts Before Sylmar Freeway Crash
The collision was reported at approximately 1:06 a.m. on the westbound 210 Freeway, just east of Maclay Street. Witnesses told CHP officers that the driver of a GMC Sierra pickup was seen doing donuts — spinning the truck in tight circles — directly in the traffic lanes moments before the crash occurred.
As a result of the reckless driving, a black SUV was left facing sideways in the freeway lanes, where it was subsequently struck along with a nearby big rig.
Injury Crash on 210 Freeway Under Investigation
The crash was classified as an injury collision by the CHP. However, there were no immediate reports about victims being transported to a hospital, and details regarding the extent of injuries remain unclear.
Authorities are investigating whether the pickup driver was under the influence or engaging in other dangerous behavior at the time of the incident.
Traffic on the 210 Freeway in Sylmar was temporarily disrupted while crews worked to clear the damaged vehicles and debris from the roadway.
