Highway 273 Crash with Major Injuries
REDDING, Calif. – A 21-year-old from Anderson died in a solo-vehicle crash Thursday morning on Highway 273 in Redding, according to the Redding Police Department.
The collision caused traffic delays around 7 a.m. near Girvan Road. A black GMC Yukon pickup truck with a camper shell had been pulling a trailer with an ATV. Police say the driver was approaching a red traffic light and swerved to avoid other vehicles in the intersection. He was thrown from the vehicle as it overturned multiple times as he was not wearing a seat belt. The young man died of his injuries at the scene, but it’s unknown if there were others occupying the vehicle.
Police temporarily closed down Highway 273 between Canyon Road and Clear Creek Road to investigate what happened.
Our condolences go out to the family of the young man who died.
